If you have questions, we are here to help provide the answers. Give our senior care advocates a call and read our guides for specific information and resources related to your or your loved one’s condition. As part of the Independence Hill Family we encourage our residents to spread their wings and live life to the fullest in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We got into Independence Hill on the assumption that we might need to find a place for my wife as far as memory management. I am very allergic to tobacco smoke.
The atmosphere they had created was like a little neighborhood. They didn’t have an option where you can just pay monthly. You had to pay a bunch of money upfront like a down payment.

There is one elevator and it broke down on Friday and may be fixed by Mon afternoon. The carpeting is so old and dirty that even after it is shampooed, it looks dirty within two days.Recently, there appears to have been a large exodus of residents. The same response of “they needed more care” is always given but in reality that has not always been the case. Families have transferred some to a different facility for other reasons. This is definitely not what it once was when privately owned. Something needs to improve before the state checks out some of the complaints.
The staff was very informative, very professional, warm, and friendly. We saw a number of different rooms in independent living, assisted living, apartments, and townhomes. Their apartments are nice and clean and not brand new but very well kept. They were very homey and very warm. It wasn’t so contemporary like a lot of the places they’re building now, but I think that seniors don’t really appreciate the contemporary.
Villages
The people were very helpful, friendly, happy, and content. They had exercise rooms and water aerobics. I'm ready to move into the Independence Hill Retirement Resort Community on the first of June. I saw it in person, put some money down, and signed the papers. I was in the fire department in that area years ago, and we used to make a lot of calls here for assisting elderly patients. We knew that it was a top-notch retirement home, so I had already been familiar with it.
I did like the program that they had, the daily activity program. The staff was friendly, I did like the activities, the lounge area and all that. The room size was pretty good, too. So they did have a lady that came in, and where they did their exercise, they had a ball exercise or some type of chair aerobics and that was pretty good. You have the flexibility to either attend or just watch the activities. The rooms are centered highly around that area, so you are a part of it, even if you're not participating in it.
Lifestyle Options
Both the cottages and the assisted living provide your meals. They also provided a little golf cart shuttle to the main building for the people in the cottages. The outside areas are just beautiful with lots of trees and nice grounds. The other thing is they don't raise their prices; hardly ever. It's still the same price as when we went two years ago.

Your monthly costs at Independence Hill Assisted Living will vary depending on room type and the level of care needed. My dad has lived at Independence Hill for 3 1/2 years now and has really enjoyed living here. He constantly speaks highly of the staff, the food, his apartment, and how peaceful the grounds are.
It had the appearance and the odor of an old folk's home. My parents were a little underwhelmed with that. Caring.com is a leading online destination for caregivers seeking information and support as they care for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones.

Provides seniors the ability to live as independently as they want, while offering assistance with the activities of daily life. I liked Independence Hill because you have the option of moving to assisted living if that becomes necessary. The facility's proximity to where I live is pretty good.
Assisted living care will provide medication monitoring and can help with ordering additional medication. Free transportation is provided so residents can shop downtown and run errands. I would recommend Independence Hill to someone who needs assisted living care in a secure and gated community close to a hospital. We visited Independence Hill, but we didn’t choose it because it was too far from where I am located, and I need something where I could pop in easily. Apart from exercise, they had a ton of things to do, like card games, happy hours, and off-premises activities. Independence Hill has been around for a long time and looked like a great place.
